Former Sidney High School Activities Director Dick Scott named to NEMFCA Hall of Fame

Former Sidney High School Activities Director and longtime coach Dick Scott has been named to the Nebraska Eight-Man Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2025.

SIDNEY, Neb. — Former Sidney High School Activities Director and longtime coach Dick Scott has been named to the Nebraska Eight-Man Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2025. Scott, who also led Sidney St. Pat’s to a Class D-1 state championship in 1984 during his coaching career, will be inducted on June 21 at The Osborne Family Sports Complex in Hastings.

Scott was previously honored as the Nebraska State Athletic Administrator of the Year for 1998-99. Beyond his administrative role, he coached the Sidney Red Raiders football team. His legacy at Sidney High School is further recognized through the Dick and Diane Scott Family Scholarship, which continues to support outstanding students.

The NEMFCA Hall of Fame ceremony will take place during halftime of the 48th annual Sertoma Eight-Man All-Star Game at Hastings College, with kickoff set for 6 p.m. 

Scott joins fellow coaches Tom Hottovy (Adams) and Arlo Wusk (Sterling), along with 11 players: Dennis Thorell (Loomis), Larry Riessland (Pleasanton), Joe E. Svoboda (Lawrence), Kelly Haecker (Odell), Cory Holl (Elwood), Dan Gall (Leigh), Bill Ziegelbein (Polk), Curt Lenners (Filley), Casey Nelson (Newman Grove), Brad Larson (Chambers), and Ben Hansen (Cedar Bluffs).
