KIMBALL -- A Kimball woman was arrested Saturday after a vehicle was struck by a train in Kimball County.

The collision occurred east of Bushnell in the early hours of July 5, according to the Kimball County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff David Hottell said when they arrived on the scene, 25-year-old Victoria Martinez of Kimball stated that her GPS led her down the train tracks where her car then got stuck.

She was able to get herself and the 9-year-old passanger out of the vehicle before impact, and no injuries were reported.

Based on Martinez’s behavior, authorities conducted a preliminary breath test, after which they placed her under arrest for driving under the influence (high test) and child endangerment.

Martinez has since bonded out. She is scheduled to appear in Kimball County Court on August 13.

All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
