GRAND ISLAND, Neb.- Flood victims in Grand Island and surrounding counties are qualifying for aid after floods and storm damage.

The SBA issued a disaster declaration in response to a request SBA received from Gov. Jim Pillen on July 24. The declaration covers the Nebraska counties of Adams, Buffalo, Hall, Hamilton, Howard and Merrick.

Businesses, non-profts, renters, and homeowners are all eligible to apply for disaster loans. With loan amounts vary in each different category.

"The nice thing about a NSBA declaration, is that a clear avenue that provides a type of assistance that might be needed. It may not be free money or grant money but it is certainly assistance."

The storms happened on June 25th and clean up and repairs have followed the disaster for over a month now.

With the storm came flooded roads, stranded vehicles, and damaged homes with almost seven inches of rain being recorded. Crop fields were also flooded throughout the county.

Despite large portions of the city being flooded, there were no injuries or fatalities reported.
