SIDNEY -- A Sidney Police Department search warrant today resulted in two arrests.

Sidney Police Chief Sam Lovato credits the search warrant first to residents of Sidney.

"We ended up getting some information that we kind of had to move on pretty quickly, of possible drugs being moved out of this particular house," Chief Lovato said about 12:30 p.m. today.

He said he gathered his team, got a warrant signed and executed the warrant.

Preliminary results indicate at least 8 grams of methamphetamine were confiscated, though the total weight of all seized substances has yet to be fully processed, according to a Sidney Police press release.

"It was a good hit for us. We do have two individuals that both have been taken to jail; one male, one female," he said.

He said during the arrest, the male suspect did receive a minor cut above his eye. He received medical treatment, reviewed by hospital staff and his now at the Cheyenne County Jail. No officers were injured in the incident.

"This was a good search warrant for us. It did result in positive drug confiscation, and we're looking at felony charges for possession and paraphernalia," Chief Lovato said.

He said his department has no plans to slow down.

"This is again part of what we promised as far as aggressive policing and working well with our resources and the community, which ultimately the community is what told us and gave us the tip on this house that we were able to build a case off of," he said.

Names of the two suspects were not available at the time of this story. Stay tuned to News Channel Nebraska as the story develops.
