Shumway to be arraigned in Cheyenne County District Court

Kailyn Shumway will be in Cheyenne County District Court October 1 to face a Failure to Appear warrant regarding drug distribution charges.

SIDNEY -- Kailyn Shumway, 29, will be appearing in Cheyenne County District Court Wednesday, October 1 for Arraignment.

She is being held on an August 11 Failure to Appear warrant related to drug charges.

On Aug. 27, 2024, charges were filed against Shumway including Distribution of Methamphetamine, Distribution of Fentanyl and Distribution of Psilocyn, all Class 2 felonies.

On Sept. 4, 2024, she was arraigned on a $100,000 bond. In a Status Hearing on Oct. 2, 2024, the Defense motioned the Court to continue the case, without objection from the State. Her bond was modified to a Personal Recognizance bond on November 12.

On December 12, she failed to appear for a court date, according to court records. The Defense motioned to continue with no objection from the State.

She again failed to appear for a Jan. 23, 2025, and a Bench Warrant was issued January 28. She was taken into custody June 13 by the Cheyenne County Sheriff's Office and bond was reset at $100,000.

On July 2, the Court granted a “Treatment Bond” to attend in-patient treatment in Grand Island, Ne. On August 6 she failed to appear, and the Court was informed she was no longer at Treatment. A Failure to Appear warrant was issued August 11.
