CRAWFORD, Neb. -- The Post Fire south of Crawford in the Nebraska panhandle has been declared 100% contained, having shown no growth since Saturday night.

The U.S. Forest Service says local authorities still have three crews and ten engines on the scene continuing mop-up, strengthening containment lines, and monitoring the fire.

Authorities say a skeleton crew will spend the next few days keeping an eye on the fire, which will continue to produce small, isolated columns of smoke.

The Post Fire began last Monday and grew about 500 acres to about 5,000 on Friday.

Authorities say the fire burned through a total of 5,400 acres.
