Sleeping Scottsbluff woman arrested for drug charges

SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. -- A Panhandle woman serves jailtime after police find her asleep outside a Scottsbluff business.
On July 12th, Scottsbluff Police officers were dispatched to 505 Broadway for a report of a passed-out individual on business steps.
SPD reported finding a woman sleeping on the steps of the business and woke her up. The woman identified herself as 25-year-old Brianna Hammer and stated that she was homeless.
Officers said they asked the woman for permission to search her bags and she complied.
SPD reported finding pieces of a glass pipe with burn residue and a hollow tube in a makeup pouch. The residue tested positive for meth, SPD officials said.
A spoon and a piece of cotton with suspected drug residue were reportedly found, as well.
Officers said Hammer told police the makeup pouch did not belong to her?. However, Hammer admitted to using meth earlier that day.
Police arrested Hammer for possession of controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to court records, Hammer served 22 days in Scotts Bluff County Jail and was released earlier this month.
