First year 4-H member takes home medals
LEWELLEN, Ne. -- Among the many activities of the Garden County fair first year 4-H member Emma Quinn.
She spent her time showing animals, and winning awards.
"So, I do a pig and two lambs. With my pig, I did Showmanship, and Market, and then I made it to the finals. And with my lambs, I won Showmanship, Market and I also won the Finals," Quinn said.
9-year-old Emma Quinn said she felt like she did well in Friday's competitions.
Taking care of animals for 4-H competition is no small task.
"For my pig, I walked her, I exercised her, I washed her, I rinsed her. It takes a lot of work. And for my lambs, it takes a while to get them where they are now. You have to wash them, shear them, wash their legs and wrap them," she said.
She said she does plan to return next year.
The Fair concluded today with the Gospel Hour at 10:30 a.m., 4-H awards at 11 a.m., buyers appreciation lunch at noon, 4-H and FFA livestock sale and WSRRA Ranch Rodeo at 3 p.m.
