SIDNEY -- A new business is pairing a fine wine, and a good book.

"Take Shelter" is a concept of combining adult beverages with a place to relax, read and maybe be entertained.

The concept is by former bartender Fletcher Primm.

"'Take Shelter' will be a book store bar. I also hope to host 'Open Mic Night.' If there are local writers, have them doing readings of their books, and just kind of a place for creativity to come together," Primm said.

He said since working as a bartender, he wants to have a place the encourages creativity.

"After 10 years of experience working as a bartender, server and manager in Sidney, I'm ready to create a space of my own. Take Shelter will offer something unique; a place where people can gather, connect, celebrate creativity. Growing up in Sidney, I fondly remember the concerts at the Shelter House, thus the name Take Shelter comes from. I was also lucky enough to be part of the Sidney Open Mic Night a good few years ago, and we stayed afloat for a good few years as well. Doing that I got to meet a lot of different people I didn't know lived in Sidney. When we were asked why we never met them before, it was because they didn't have a place to go to," he said.

Primm was at the Sidney City Council meeting seeking a liquor license for Take Shelter. Following the hearing on the request, the council approved the application 5-0. Primm plans to open Take Shelter on November 29, the day after Thanksgiving.
