GORDON, Neb. - The Gordon City Council has appointed an interim city manager following last week’s termination of the previous manager’s contract.

During a special meeting Thursday, the council named City Clerk Kim Buchan as the interim city manager and agreed to advertise the position for 30 days.

As previously reported by News Channel Nebraska, the council voted to terminate John Reed’s contract after an executive session. No public explanation was provided for the decision.

Reed took over as city manager on Sept. 9, replacing Glen Spaugh, who retired after serving in the role since Feb. 2019. In addition to overseeing city operations, Reed also held the titles of city treasurer and airport manager.
