LINCOLN, Neb. - Changes are coming to concession stands at Husker sporting events.

After years of the university, along with Premier Catering, handling all things concession related, the Nebraska Board of Regents approved a new partnership with Aramark Sports and Entertainment last Friday. Aramark will now be in charge of the concessions in Memorial Stadium, Bob Devaney Sports Center and Hibner Stadium.

According to Nebraska Athletic Director Troy Dannen, part of the reason for the change is geared towards the sale of alcohol at Husker football games. The contract includes a $10-million capital infusion, which will aid in upgrading Memorial Stadium’s concession stands, like installing coolers for alcohol.

“They provide the best enhancement of the fan experience, implementation of technology, capital dollars and additional revenue,” University of Nebraska System President Dr. Jeffery Gold, said.

Aramark is projected to bring an annual commission of up to $5.8-million to UNL. Their contract goes into effect on March 1, 2025 and is active until June 30, 2035.

The partnership also raises questions about long-time pizza provider Valentino's as their contract is set to expire this year. Valentino's has the option to enter into negotiations, but Aramark will have final ruling when selecting the next pizza provider.
