Traffic stop leads to two drug arrests in Alliance

ALLIANCE, Neb. – A routine traffic stop in Alliance on Monday afternoon resulted in the discovery of methamphetamine and two arrests, according to the Alliance Police Department.

At approximately 1:20 p.m. on March 31, police officers initiated a traffic stop on a white Volkswagen Golf with no license plates near 10th Street and Platte Avenue. Officers later executed a search warrant on the vehicle and discovered approximately 36 grams of methamphetamine inside.

As a result of the investigation, one female and one male were arrested for possession and distribution of a controlled substance. Authorities say the case remains under investigation and results are still considered preliminary. Names have not been released. 

The investigation involved multiple agencies, including the U.S. Postal Service, the WING Task Force, and the Box Butte County Sheriff’s Office. The Alliance Police Department credited inter-agency coordination and teamwork for the success of the operation.

“Illegal drug activity negatively impacts our community, endangering lives and fueling further criminal activity,” the department stated in the release. “We remain committed to holding offenders accountable and keeping our streets safe.”
