Agreement reached to save Kimball's grocery store

In a press release dated December 16th, Kimball residents John Morrison and Kim Baliman announced they have reached an agreement, presumably with Legacy Coop, to bring Kimball's Main Street Market under local ownership.

Shares of what Morrison and Baliman are calling the Kimball Coop Food Store will be offered to community members for $100 each and up to 2000 shares will be sold. The funds raised during this share offering will cover initial operating expenses for the new iteration of the Coop Grocery Store. The cost of property acquisition has not been confirmed, but can likely be mortgaged against the property that the Kimball County Assessor's Office currently values at over 1.1 million dollars.

"A Board of Directors will be formed to oversee operations, and dividends will be distributed to shareholders. The initiative emphasizes local management and hiring and will prioritize the communities involvement in both employment and decision-making," the statement reads.

The next step is a community open house to be held at The Sagebrush on December 22nd, with questions being answered by both Morrison and Baliman.
