Sidney places second at Perkins County Speech Invite in Grant

GRANT, Neb. — The Sidney High School speech team earned a second-place finish out of 27 schools Saturday at the Perkins County Speech Invite in Grant.
Sidney’s overall individual standings were led by Raven Dinorog, who placed second, and Dagen Lee, who finished fourth among all competitors.
Dinorog captured a first-place finish in Serious Prose and teamed with Lee to place second in Duet Acting. Kyah Hicks added a sixth-place finish in Serious Prose.
In Program of Oral Interpretation, Laurel Dadgostar finished second and Kennedy Hobson placed fourth. Dadgostar also earned a fourth-place finish in Poetry.
Sidney recorded a pair of top finishes in Oral Interpretation of Drama, with Sweeney Todd earning first place and Young Frankenstein finishing third.
In Extemporaneous Speaking, led by Josette McConnell’s first-place performance. Mady Kennedy placed fifth, Barrett Wiegand finished seventh and Aastha Chaudhari placed ninth.
Additional results included Bryn Jones placing fifth in Informative Speaking and 10th in Persuasive. Zoey Gorman placed fifth and Stephen Hunt seventh in Entertainment Speaking, while Tucker Hardin was named Top Novice Speaker and placed ninth.
In Humorous Prose, Lee earned a second-place finish, while Hunter Elston was named Top Novice Speaker and placed fifth.
