Winter returns with snow and cold

SIDNEY-- Winter weather returned to western Nebraska today with cold and snow. 

Nebraska Department of Transportation crews were out early clearing rods of a light snow. 

As of 10:30 a.m., the official temperature in the Sidney area was 15 degrees with light snow and wind, dropping the windchill temperature to 3 below. 

The National Weather Service predicts a 30 percent chance of snow shows, mostly before 2 p.m. Patchy blowing snow can also be expected. Temperatures may reach 24 with winds 15 to 20 mph and gusts up to 30 mph. 

Friday holds a 40 percent chance of snow in the morning with a high near 29. Wind chill values are between 5 below and 5 above zero.
