OGALLALA, Neb. — Top-ranked Ogallala used a dominant second quarter to pull away from Bridgeport and claim the Class C1-10 Tournament Championship with an 85-44 victory Thursday at Prairie View School.

The Indians outscored the Bulldogs 32-12 in the second quarter and extended its lead to 74-34 by the end of the third quarter, triggering a running clock in the fourth.

Ogallala, the No. 1 team in Class C1 and the lone undefeated team remaining in the state, improved to 25-0.

Sawyer Smith led the Indians with 25 points, while Tanner Decastro added 23. Cy Lowery chipped in 13 points and Edan Cain finished with 10 as Ogallala placed four players in double figures.

The Indians were efficient at the line, converting 12 of 15 free throws, and controlled the game defensively by forcing 19 Bridgeport turnovers. Ogallala committed just eight turnovers.

Bridgeport, which fell to 23-5, was led by Gage Nein with 19 points and Landon Dean with 13.

Both teams are projected to host district finals, scheduled for Saturday, Monday or Tuesday, with state tournament berths on the line.
