Falls City Sacred Heart advances to state with 67-50 win over Leyton

Leyton’s season ends in Falls City. Falls City-Sacred Heart hit 14 threes and pulled away for a 67-50 win to advance to the Class D2 State Tournament.

FALLS CITY, Neb. — Falls City-Sacred Heart caught fire from beyond the arc in the second quarter and pulled away for a 67-50 victory over Leyton on Monday to earn a berth in the Class D2 State Tournament.

Leyton led 10-9 after the first quarter, but the Irish responded with seven 3-pointers in the second to build a 32-20 halftime advantage. Falls City-Sacred Heart finished with 14 3-pointers in the game.

Bo Fletcher led all scorers with 30 points, including five 3-pointers. Cole Taft added 23 points and knocked down six 3-pointers while surpassing the 1,000-point mark in his career at Falls City-Sacred Heart.

Calvin Borgmann and Kaleb Miller each scored 15 points for Leyton.

Falls City-Sacred Heart improved to 17-8 and extended its late-season surge. After starting the year 5-7, the Irish have won 12 of their last 13 games and are unbeaten against Class D1 and D2 opponents at 15-0.

Leyton closed its season at 17-6.
