Work will begin on I-80, Kimball East and West

Travelers will start seeing crews on or around March 30th

(Gering, Neb.) — Weather permitting, work will begin March 30 on Interstate 80 (I-80)

eastbound and westbound, from reference post 19.00 to reference post 23.44, according to the Nebraska

Department of Transportation.

 

Western Engineering Company, Inc., of Harlan, Iowa, is the contractor for this project. Work includes

pavement repair, milling old asphalt and repaving with a new asphalt overlay, new guardrail, and grading.

Work also includes bridge repairs at reference post 5.26. The lane width will be reduced to 13 feet for the

bridge work at interchanges 20 and 22. There are 110 working days for the project.

 

Motorists are reminded to drive cautiously in and near work zones, to buckle up, and put phones down.
