Darlene Tiner, 76, died at her home in Kimball on Monday, June 8, 2026. Cremation has been held and memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 28, 2026 at the Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball with Pastor Randy Bohac officiating. The services for Darlene have been entrusted to the Cantrell Funeral Home. Darlene Tiner was born in Alameda, California on September 2, 1949, the daughter of Jack and Lzena (Jenkins) Tiner. She grew up in Alameda and graduated from Alameda High School, Class of 1967. Following high school, she married her high school sweetheart, and to this union one son, Vincent Paul, was born. They later divorced. She remained in California for many years, where she and her husband, Donald Henson, whom she married in 1971, owned and operated several Denny’s restaurants. In the mid-1980s, they relocated to Colorado and continued in the restaurant business before she later moved to Kimball, Nebraska. In Kimball, Darleen served as manager of the Dairy Queen and also restaurant manager of the Kimball Country Club, continuing the hospitality work she enjoyed most of her life before beginning a longstanding career with the Kimball County Sheriff’s Office, where she faithfully worked as a dispatcher for more than 28 years. Darleen found great joy in quilting with her mother, spending time with family and friends in California, and sharing meals and memories with those she loved. She will be remembered for her dedication to her work, her generous spirit, and the many lives she touched along with being remembered for her strong work ethic, warm heart, and the friendships she built throughout her life. Survivors include her daughter Lisa Gilbo of Kimball, NE; sister Sue Cook of California; grandchildren Jacob Dunning, Joshua Dunning and Saydi Schanaman; great granddaughter Jadalynn Dunning. Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, son Vincent Paul Gilbo, and brothers Raymond, William and Glen Tiner.
