Hunter Arterburn’s passion for broadcasting began early, sparked by a memorable night watching the 1997 NCAA National Football Championship game between Tennessee and Nebraska. While most kids his age were simply watching, Hunter was already imagining himself in the announcer’s booth, calling the action and keeping score on a marker board beneath his family’s dining room table. That night, as the Huskers triumphed over Peyton Manning and the Volunteers, Hunter discovered his dream of working in radio.

Hunter’s broadcasting journey officially started in the sixth grade, when he applied for a position at KSID Radio in his hometown of Sidney, Nebraska. His first role involved calling area stations to gather football scores for the on-air announcers and the postgame scoreboard show. By his junior year of high school, he joined the KSID staff part-time, all while juggling other jobs like bagging groceries and running his own lawn-mowing business.

After graduating from Sidney High School, Hunter pursued his passion for broadcasting at the University of Nebraska-Kearney, earning a Bachelor of Science in Communications with a minor in Business Administration. His career took him to Nebraska City in 2014, where he worked as Program Director and Morning Show Host for Flood Communications on B103 and Otoe County Country. In 2019, when Flood Communications acquired KSID, Hunter returned home to Sidney as Station Manager for the new 987 The Big Boy and Cheyenne County Country, and Flood Communications – Western Nebraska.

Outside of the studio, Hunter is deeply involved in his community and cherishes family time. He’s a proud husband to Avery and devoted dad to their daughter, Olivia. When he’s not managing the airwaves, Hunter enjoys hunting, fishing, camping and workingout—having completed eight half-marathons. A passionate sports enthusiast, he also boasts five fantasy baseball league championships and two Big Boy big wheel race titles. Whether at Lake McConaughy or catching a ballgame, Hunter thrives in the great outdoors.
