The Sidney American Legion Baseball team will open the season at Legion Field in Sidney against Bridgeport on Thursday, June 18th. An amended schedule, which was released on Tuesday, May 19th, includes both Junior and Senior contests.

Teams were given the go-ahead when Governor Ricketts relaxed restrictions on Monday, May 11th allowing youth baseball and softball teams to begin conducting practices on June 1st, and to begin playing games on June 18th. On Wednesday of that week, the Nebraska Athletic Executive Committee approved a shortened regular season only. All Area and State Tournaments were cancelled earlier this year by the National American Legion.

Programs in Alliance, Bridgeport, Chadron, Gering, Gordon, Ogallala, and Sidney quickly assembled a panhandle schedule running through July 26th.
