Western Nebraska Community College President Dr. Carmen Simone could be leaving after less than 2 years on the job.

Simone is one of 3 finalists to become president of Blue Mountain Community College in Pendleton, Oregon, and interviewed there yesterday.

Blue Mountain serves about 3,000 students in Pendleton and 5 other communities in 5 counties of northeastern Oregon.

Simone was selected as the 6th president of WNCC in Nov 2019 and took over just as the coronavirus pandemic was ramping up.

The WNCC board last month went into executive session at its regular meeting for the annual evaluation of the president.
