SIDNEY, NE — A Sidney man is facing multiple felony charges after an incident in the early hours of 2022.
According to court documents, police were called to a reported disturbance at The Village at Sidney apartments at about 1:30 a.m. on New Years Day.
Police say a woman met them at the door to one of the units and said Preston Flynn had threatened himself and her with a knife. She told police she and Flynn were at another apartment earlier that night when Flynn became drunk and belligerent.
Court documents say Flynn tried to fight someone, but the other person did what they could to avoid the confrontation. Flynn and the woman eventually returned to their own apartment. That's when the threats with the knife occurred, according to court records.
A witness told police they heard the incident happen over the phone when the woman called them. Court records say the witness reported hearing Flynn scream and say, "I'll kill you and then myself," while the woman asked them to put the knife down.
Flynn was arrested and is now charged with terroristic threats and use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Thursday afternoon.
