North Platte Man Sentenced for Being a Felon in Possession of Ammunition
A former felon was sentenced in federal court for having 90 rounds of ammunition in his bedroom.
The United States Attorney Jan Sharp announced that 24-year-old Kaleb Slaymaker, of North Platte, Nebraska, was sentenced on January 26, 2022, in federal court in Omaha. He was sentenced for felon in possession of ammunition.
United States District Judge Brian C. Buescher sentenced Slaymaker to 15 months’ imprisonment. There is no parole in the federal system so after his release from prison, he will begin a 3-year term of supervised release.
On February 5, 2020, a search warrant was executed at Slaymaker’s residence. Seized during the search was a small amount of methamphetamine, paraphernalia with residue, and 90 rounds of .22 LR. The ammunition was found in Slaymaker’s bedroom dresser. Slaymaker has a prior felony conviction for attempted burglary.
