DALTON, NE — Another student athlete from the panhandle will go on to play at the next level.

Friday, Leyton's KJ Bush announced his commitment to Ottawa University in Kansas to play basketball. Bush has been a consistent start for Leyton, averaging over 9 points and six rebounds-per-game throughout his career.

This season, he's been a key piece of a Warriors team that's 15-3. That's the most win Leyton has had in a season since going 16-7 in the 2016-17 season.

Bush said he really likes the basketball staff and facilities at Ottawa University, but that's not the only reason he chose the school.

"I picked Ottawa mostly because it's a Baptist School," Bush said. "I'll be able to continue on my book studies as well as the word of God."

Leyton Head Basketball Coach Chris Morgan said Bush has been a leader since he stepped onto the court. Bush says he is excited to represent his school at the next level.

"It's a very great honor to play basketball at the next level," Bush said. "I know not a lot of people get to be able to do this so to be one of the few who can is a great honor."

Leyton is back on the court Tuesday, Feb. 8 against Bayard. You can listen to the game live on 98.7 The Big Boy.
