OMAHA, NE — A pair of wrestlers from the southern panhandle are still alive for gold medals after the opening day of the NSAA State Wrestling Championships in Omaha. 

Chance Houser from Sidney picked up a pair of wins by pin to advance to the semifinals in the 113 pound weight class in Class B. In Class D, Bridgeport's Steven Menke won by pin in his first two matches to move onto the semis in the Class D 160 pound class. 

Sidney's Austin Munier picked up a first round win by pin, but fell in the second round via 5-4 decision in the quarterfinals. He is still in contention for a medal and will wrestle starting with the second round of consolations tomorrow. 

Ogallala's Cameron Zink will not repeat as the Class B 152 pound champion. After picking up an opening round major decision win, he fell via 6-3 decision in the quarterfinals. He moves to the consolation bracket Friday. 

Also picking up opening round wins were Morrill's Daniel Kohl (Class D 145), Kimball's Trey Schindler (Class D 152), Bayard's Beau Lake (Class D 160) and Bayard's Cody Miller (Class D 220). All lost their quarterfinal matches.

A full list of results from area wrestlers is below. The first and second round of consolation matches in Classes B and C will get Friday's action started at 9:30 a.m. CT. Consolations for Classes A and D as well as first round matches in the girls tournament start at 12:30 p.m. CT. 

Semifinal and third round consolation matches will begin at 5:00 p.m. CT Friday.
