An entry from a Chadron State College senior has won the top prize in Still Photography from the Black Hills chapter of the AAF –  American Advertising Federation.

Rylie Cole’s Gold Addy photo, a black and white close-up of one of her family’s cows, automatically advances the Minden native to the next tier of competition next month in Nashville.

Cole will graduate in May with a major in Graphic Design and a minor in Marketing. She plans to pursue a career in social media marketing and digital design.

Chadron State Art Professor Mary Donahue says CSC students have been participating in Black Hills AAF student summits, workshops, and award shows since 2013, gaining invaluable knowledge about the profession of advertising and design.

Donahue says the Black Hills chapter board has been welcoming, encouraging students to pursue careers in advertising by providing them opportunities to network, learn from professionals, and have access to internship and job announcements.

Donahue says they get “everything from the importance of research and strategy, insights and trends in the industry, tips on interviewing, portfolios, and résumés, and the opportunity to personally connect with professionals.”
