One person missing after standoff, fire in North Platte

One person is missing and a building is in ruins after an incident in Lincoln County.

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. -- One person is missing and a building is in ruins after an incident in Lincoln County.

The North Platte Police Department says it was called to the scene after reports of gunshots in the area of Rodeo Road and Carr on Thursday night just before 11:00 p.m.

Chief of Police Steve Reeves says callers reported hearing gunshots and fireworks going off.

Upon arrival, officers found a small fire in the building. The officers ordered a man to leave the building, but he refused and went back in.

Authorities secured the building after getting information that there was a large amount of fireworks inside.

Approximately an hour later, the building was fully engulfed in flames.

The person was last seen inside the building.

The incident is under investigation.
