Authorities place Lewellen man in protective custody after incident Tuesday

A Lewellen man who had threatened to harm himself was taken into custody without incident Tuesday afternoon.

LEWELLEN - A Lewellen man who had threatened to harm himself was taken into custody without incident Tuesday afternoon.

The Star-Herald reports the man voluntarily walked out of his residence after approximately two hours of negotiations. He was the only occupant of the residence. Nebraska State Patrol spokesperson Cody Thomas says the man was placed into emergency protective custody. 

The Garden County Sheriff's Office requested assistance around 2:45 p.m.
