Individual suffers serious injuries in fall from railroad overpass in Sidney
SIDNEY - A portion of Illinois Street from Fifth Avenue to Fort Sidney Road in Sidney was closed for a short time Monday evening while emergency officials responded to an individual falling from the Burlington Northern Railroad overpass.
Cheyenne County Attorney Paul Schaub says the Cheyenne County Sheriff's office and Sidney Police Department responded to a call about an individual on top of the overpass on East Illinois Street at 7:43 p.m.
The individual was transported by ambulance to Sidney Regional Medical Center and flown by medical helicopter to the Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, Colo. with serious injuries.
The road reopened at approximately 8:10 p.m.
An investigation into the incident continues. Foul play is not suspected.
