Scottsbluff teen is facing charges after fleeing from a rollover accident
SCOTTSBLUFF -- A 19-year-old was arrested after reportedly leaving the scene of a crash with the other driver trapped in their vehicle.
Scottsbluff Police was dispatched to a report of a rollover accident on 11th Ave and East 10th Street on April 10th. The driver of the rolled-over vehicle was trapped in the driver's seat and bleeding from her left arm, Scottsbluff PD said. The injured driver was transported to the hospital for treatment.
The other vehicle reportedly continued driving south on 11th Avenue after the collision.
Witnesses reportedly gave police a description of the vehicle and one witness took a picture of the vehicle's license plate on their cell phone.
Officers reported finding the vehicle parked outside of a house, noting that it had severe front damage and red paint on it. The driver was identified as Katy Yaniria Castro, 19.
The police affidavit states Castro told police she left the accident because she had to take tortillas home. Castro was not injured and said she believed she had the right of way from the other vehicle.
Castro was placed under arrest and charged with leaving the scene of an injury accident.
