Scottsbluff falls in overtime at state soccer tournament

The Scottsbluff boys soccer team’s exciting season came to an end in round one of the Class B State Tournament out in Omaha.

OMAHA, Neb. (KNEP) - The Scottsbluff boys soccer team’s exciting season came to an end in round one of the Class B State Tournament out in Omaha. Bearcats falling to Waverly in penalty kicks with the overall final score being 5-4.

Waverly opened the scoring with two goals to go up 2-0. However, Scottsbluff answered with goals from Karim Castillo Leos and Aaron Schaff to tie the game going into halftime.

Scottsbluff kept the momentum going in the second half as Braden Anderson scored to give Scottsbluff a 3-2 lead. Waverly answered back scoring twice to retake the lead at 4-3. Scottsbluff again rallied behind another goal from Aaron Schaff to tie the game and force overtime.

In the overtime round neither team scored which forced winner takes all penalty kicks. During the penalty kick round Waverly was able to score three goals while Scottsbluff did not score in the session.
