SIDNEY -- The Elevate group scheduled their first event, “I survived a suicide attempt” on May 26th.

Various agencies in the Sidney, Nebraska area and the surrounding communities, have put their heads together to create an effective way of communicating conversations with the Western Nebraskan Panhandle.  

Adam Frerichs-Sheriff of Cheyenne County, Jamie Bright- University of Nebraska Extension Educator for Rural Prosperity Nebraska, Forrest Hershberger from the Sidney Sun Telegraph, Chad Rademacher-Pastor of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and Kimberly Dreyer-social worker for Sidney Regional Medical Center got together to discuss Community Conversations and inviting the communities of Cheyenne County, Kimball County, Deuel County and Morrill County on diverse topics of conversation that impact our communities in Nebraska. This effort is called, Community Conversations: Elevate.

The Goal for Elevate, is to collaborate with community partners covering a multitude of educational topics that effect the communities, individuals and business leaders on the overall health and wellness pertinent to our communities. The vision is to elevate and enhance knowledge, elevate concerns, and elevate resources.

The plan is to implement Elevate-Community Conversations four times a year and hold these events at the Sidney High School Auditorium. The Time and date set for this first event is May 26, 2022 from 6:00 p.m. to 8 p.m. The presentation for the first event is on the topic of Suicide: Prevention and Intervention.  The guest Speaker for the event is Ms. Rhianna Brand: Presenting “I survived a suicide attempt”. This is free to the public.
