SCOTTSBLUFF -- A Scottsbluff man remains in custody after a reported domestic assault last month.
On April 28, Scottsbluff Police responded to a domestic violence call on 19th Street.
When officers arrived at the scene, a woman answered the door. According to the responding officer, she had swelling around her eye "as if she had been hit by some kind of blunt object."
The woman reportedly told officers that she was asking 48-year-old Mark Stewart to stop messaging his ex-girlfriend, at which point Stewart started slamming doors and punching her in the face.
Police reported that Stewart said the woman received the injury when the two "bumped into each other."
Stewart was arrested on a felony domestic assault charge. Police said he was charged with a felony because Stewart had multiple domestic assault charges prior to the incident.
Stewart was charged earlier this month, and he is due in district court for a pre-trial hearing in July.
