SIDNEY - A large area of the Sidney was without power late Sunday night, according to the Cheyenne County Communications Center.

The communications center notified city officials about the power outage and crews investigated the outage and worked to get it fix.

The power outage ranged from the area around Western Nebraska Community College towards Legion Park. It effected the radio signals of the Sidney radio stations on 98.7 FM, 1340 AM and 95.7 FM. The outage also knocked off the radio station's streaming service.

The communications center was unsure how long the power would be out.

While the Sidney area dealt with strong to severe thunderstorms Sunday afternoon and evening, with penny-size hail and gusty 60 mph winds, no official word has been released on what caused the power outage.
