Fall River County authorities have released the name of the elderly Hot Springs woman killed when her house caught fire on May 25.

Firefighters found the body of 81-year old Judith Bredlau in a hallway.

Fall River County Emergency Manager Frank Maynard says the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Maynard says the first report of a fire in the two-story house came in about 6 pm with smoke coming from the interior.

Neighbors told firefighters Bredlau might be inside because they’d seen her in the yard earlier, but the heat of the fire kept firefighters from entering at first.

When they were finally able to get in, they found Bredlau’s body a short distance away from the dining room where most of the fire damage occurred.
