BIG SPRINGS, Neb. -- The Deuel County Sheriff’s Office announced on social media, that they arrested a suspect with a warrant thanks to the help of the public.

According to The Nebraska State Patrol, they conducted a traffic stop on Monday, June 27th on I-80 at mile marker 113 for speeding and reckless driving.

Deuel County Deputies said they were called to assist the State Patrol when the driver left his vehicle and took off on foot northbound from the traffic stop toward the river.

NSP Troopers called in the Keith and Deuel County Sheriff's Office to locate the suspect. 

NSP said they deployed K9 for help and were unsuccessful.

Authorities said the arrest warrant was called off around 10 p.m.

Deuel County Deputies said around 5:30 a.m. the next day, they received a call from the public about the potential suspect sitting on the railroad tracks on the east side of Big Springs.

Deputies said they located the man and confirmed he was the suspect from the previous night.

Deuel County Deputies detained the man identified as Jeremiah Hebner and said they are appreciative to the public for the helpful calls.
