The Chadron Fire Department responded to a car fire on 4th street between Lake and Maple just after 10:00 am on Wednesday morning.

Assistant Fire Chief Pat O’Brien says crews attacked the fire quickly under the hood and the front interior of the 2013 Toyota Camry. Cause of the fire is believed to be electrical due to its point of origin.

The fire did not extend beyond the car. The vehicle is being estimated as a $6,000 loss.

No injuries were reported.

Dawes County Sheriff’s Deputy Aron Chrisman says emergency personnel responded to a single vehicle accident on Beaver Valley Road on Wednesday.

The accident occurred just after 11:00 am on Beaver Valley Road between McHenry Road and Slim Buttes Road when an 18-year old male driver, traveling eastbound, lost control of his vehicle and went into the south ditch.

Chrisman says that minor injuries were sustained by the driver but medical transport was not needed.

Chadron Fire and Rescue responded along with the Dawes County Sheriff’s Office.
