SIDNEY - The Sidney Angels will make their debut on live radio Monday.

Sidney radio station, Cheyenne County Country, announced Friday they will carry the broadcast of the special needs baseball program on 1340 AM, 95.7 FM, newschannelnebraska.com and the free NCN app.

Station Manager Hunter Arterburn says doing this broadcast was something that has been talked about since the league formed a year ago.

"We're excited to be able to feature these athletes and show off the hard work everyone at Dairy Queen, Adams Industries and the Office of Human Development - including Eric Packer and Megan Price - have done for these kids and adults in this program," Arterburn said. "We want this to be a memorable night for everyone involved, so we'll record the game and hand out copies for free to family and friends."

Sports Director Randy Brown will provide the play-by-play and speak with a number of athletes and organizers. Arterburn says it'll be just like you're listening to Randy call a Sidney High School game.

"We're treating this game as if it were a regular season Red Raider athletic event," Arterburn said. "You'll hear our sports intro. Randy will call every home run, spectacular play and have some fun with the athletes. The only difference will be a commercial-free broadcast."

The Sidney Angels League is for all individuals of all of abilities. They pair special needs players with a buddy who has volunteered to help and support the individual in playing baseball.

Volunteers are needed for their final two games of the season, July 18 and 25. The games are at 7 p.m. at Kiwanis Field in Legion Park. They last about an hour.

The public is invited and encouraged to attend. There is no charge to watch the games.
