Gering 10U baseball team earns Cal Ripken state title

GERING, Neb. (KNEP) - The city of Gering hosting the Cal Ripken 10U State Baseball Tournament this past weekend. The last team standing a familiar team as the host Gering Dirt Dawgs earning the title.

Gering defeating Alliance in the championship game 17-0. The win marks an undefeated tournament run for the Dirt Dawgs to claim back to back state titles.

The Dirt Dawgs will represent Nebraska at the Midwest Plains Regional Tournament in Bismark, North Dakota starting July 21. The winner of the regional tournament moves into the Cal Ripken 10U World Series in Indiana.

The state champion Dirt Dawgs consists of Kirby Schanaman, Kellen Malcolm, Jimmy Madden, Jase Kelly, Jack Judy, Kain Molina, Seed Flood, Blake Kelly, Logan Yeager, Eli Bruckner, Vinny Palomo, Arthur Johns, along with bat boy Camden Malcolm.
