Northrup departing as Head Track and Field Coach at Chadron State

Chadron State College Head Track and Field Coach Riley Northrup will step down from his position, in order to pursue other opportunities, following his final week of employment this week.<br/>

CHADRON -- July 25, 2022 -- Chadron State College Head Track and Field Coach Riley Northrup will step down from his position, in order to pursue other opportunities, following his final week of employment this week.

"Coach Northrup has done a wonderful job of improving our competitiveness and growing our program," said CSC Athletic Diretor Joel R. Smith. We wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavors."

In his five seasons at CSC, the Eagles earned 14 All-America awards, 17 Individual or relay RMAC Championships, and seven school records. Some highlights of his athletes' performances include Isaac Grimes' 2019 Indoor NCAA title in Long Jump and Runner-up finish in Triple Jump, and Naishaun Jernigan's 3rd Place NCAA Outdoor Championship finish in Long Jump in 2021.

Northrup and his family will relocate to Brookings, South Dakota, where he will begin a position at South Dakota State University.

A search for CSC's next head track and field coach is already underway.
