Weather spotters confirm tornado near Roscoe Tuesday afternoon

A strong thunderstorm whipped through Keith County Tuesday afternoon, dropping large hail and producing a tornado near Roscoe.

OGALLALA - A strong thunderstorm whipped through Keith County Tuesday afternoon, dropping large hail and producing a tornado near Roscoe. 

According to the National Weather Service office, trained weather spotters confirmed a tornado on the ground three miles southwest of Roscoe, near Ogallala. The twister was moving southeast at 25 mph. 

A tornado warning was in effect until 5:15 p.m. Sirens blared through Ogallala as the storm passed through.

Ping pong ball size hail and heavy rain was also reported with the storm that left damage to trees, plants and flooded alley ways.
