KIMBALL - The eastbound lanes of Interstate 80 were closed in Kimball County late Thursday morning due to an accident.

The accident happened at mile marker 18. The Nebraska Department of Transportation was directing traffic off the interstate to Highway 30 at mile marker 8.

No other information was immediately available. A photo released by NDOT showed foggy conditions at the time of the accidents. Kimball County was in a dense fog advisory until 2 p.m. Thursday.

A long line of semi-tractor-trailers and other travelers could be seen lined up on the interstate behind the closure. A News Channel Nebraska reporter described heavy traffic in downtown Kimball, because of the closure. Hwy 30 runs through Kimball.

One lane reopened at approximately 12:15 p.m.
