POTTER - A Potter man was arrested on charges of child abuse after a student reported to a school administrator "it hurt to try and sit down" on Sept. 21.

Cheyenne County Sheriff Adam Frerichs says the elementary student told Potter-Dix Superintendent Chris Arent their dad spanked them with a paddle. Arent called the Child Abuse and Neglect hotline and contacted School Resource Officer, Deputy Bobby Martinez.

An investigation into the report resulted in the arrest of the Potter man, accused of child abuse.

News Channel Nebraska is choosing to withhold the suspect's name to protect the identity of the child involved.
