NORTH PLATTE, Neb. - Middle school students in North Platte can now make a bank deposit between history and English classes.

With an eye toward teaching students about saving and finance, Western Nebraska Bank has begun opening "branches" in nearby schools.

The bank made its newest addition Thursday, joining forces with Madison Middle School in North Platte.

Marcy Hunter from Western Nebraska Bank helped facilitate the process, which allow students apply for teller positions at the Madison Bulldog Branch of the bank. The students will then interview for the jobs, with bank employees then training and teaching them about banking.

Students at the school bank locations can deposit money in their own savings accounts, with bank and school officials saying it gives the a chance to learn about fiscal responsibility. Students are given rewards each time they deposit money. At the end of the school year, students will be given a check with all of the money they have deposited throughout the year.
