BIG SPRINGS - A South Platte senior plans to continue her volleyball career at the college level.

Avery Hayward signed to play at Central Christian College in Kansas on Tuesday afternoon. She says volleyball has always been a sport that has stuck out to her.

“Volleyball has always been my favorite, and succeeded more in volleyball than anything else,” Hayward said.

Hayward also participates in basketball, track, and cheerleading for the Blue Knights.

Hayward knew Central Christian College was the right fit when she took a tour of the school and talked with Head Coach Rick Hughes.

She finished her senior year with 264 kills, 46 ace serves, and 14 blocks. Hayward helped her team go 17-17 this fall.

Although she's excited to move onto the next level, she'll miss playing for South Platte, because it’s always been the place that she has called home. She's grateful for her coaches for helping her prepare to play at the next level.
