Leyton hoops stay unbeaten with sweep of Arthur County

Sophomore Zaili Benish had a game-high 36 points, went 9-9 at the free throw line, and the Leyton girls basketball team remained unbeaten with a 63-43, win over Arthur County on Tuesday nigh in Dalton.

DALTON - Sophomore Zaili Benish had a game-high 36 points, went 9-9 at the free throw line, and the Leyton girls basketball team remained unbeaten with a 63-43, win over Arthur County on Tuesday nigh in Dalton. 

Sophomore Shawnee Gamble added 14 points.  

The Wolves were led by senior Jaedin Johns with 17 points.  

The Warriors improved to 5-0 and will play Wallace (1-3) on Thursday, Dec. 29. Arthur County falls to 2-3 and will host Wallace (1-3) on Jan. 6.  

Meanwhile in the boys game, Leyton was led by the 17 points from senior Justin Ernest and the Warriors defeated Arthur County, 53-20. Ernest had 11 points in the third quarter. 

Senior Dillion Juelfs added 12 points. 

Senior Lance Vasa led the Wolves with 8 points.  

The Warriors stay undefeated at 6-0 and will face Hay Springs on Jan. 7.  

Arthur County’s next game will be Jan. 6 at home against Wallace (1-3).
