BRIDGEPORT – The Minuteman Activities Conference basketball tournament semifinals are now set for Friday in Bridgeport. The games were originally scheduled for Thursday, but due to the winter storm the semifinals will now be played Friday with the finals being played as planned on Saturday.

The girls first round tournament games were held on Monday at home sites while the boys played their first-round games Tuesday. The top four seeds in each bracket won their opening games and advanced to Friday’s semifinals.

The top seeded Leyton girls moved into the semifinals via a bye when Minatare was unable to field a team. The Warriors (8-2) will meet the #4 seed Garden County (6-4) at 3:00 p.m. at Bridgeport High School. The Eagles knocked off Potter-Dix Monday night in Oshkosh 33-27 to advance. The #2 seed, Bayard (10-3) had no trouble with Banner County on Monday handling the Wildcats 73-7 to move into the 4:45 p.m. semifinal. The Tigers will face third seeded South Platte (9-4) who cruised past Creek Valley 75-22 to advance to Friday.

Leyton is also the top seed in the boy’s bracket. The undefeated Warriors (12-0) beat Minatare 69-25 to move into the semifinals against the #4 seed Bayard (7-6) at 6:30 p.m. in Bridgeport. The Tigers advanced with a 63-43 home win over South Platte. The second semifinal features second seeded Potter-Dix (8-2), who sailed by Banner County 72-18 in Potter on Tuesday taking on the #3 seed Garden County (9-2) in the last game of the night at 8:00 p.m.
