Tecumseh State Correctional Institution inmate dies

LINCOLN, Neb. -- A TSCI inmate died at the age of 72 at a Lincoln hospital. 

Officials said John Epting has been incarcerated since November 20, 2006. 

Authorities said he was serving a 25 to 40-year sentence on charges out of Lincoln County that included manslaughter and first-degree assault. 

While the cause of death has not yet been determined, officials said Epting was being treated for a medical condition. As is the case whenever an inmate dies in the custody of NDCS, officials will conduct an investigation.
