SIDNEY – The Lady Raider and Red Raider basketball teams did more than just survive against a pair of ranked 3A Colorado teams Wednesday at the Cabela’s Athletic Facility. A huge third quarter helped Sidney pull away from the fourth ranked Yuma girls for a 66-41 win, while the Red Raiders built a 20-point halftime lead and cruise to a 78-45 win over the number five rated Yuma boys.

Leading 32-26 at the half, Sidney scored 17 of their 22 third quarter points off nine Yuma turnovers to take control of the game heading into the final period. Kayla Westby scored nine of her game high 17 points in the third period while Karsyn Leeling chipped in 11 points as the Lady Raiders improved to 17-1 on the season.

10 first quarter points from sophomore Landon Riddle catapulted the Red Raiders to a 24-9 first quarter lead, as Sidney steadily pulled away from a Yuma team that had knocked off an undefeated and number one ranked Limon club the night before. Riddle finished with a game-high 21 points to lead four Sidney players in double figures. Isak Doty added 16 points, Micah Schneider chipped in 13, and Cam Leeling came off the bench to contribute 10 points as Sidney improves to 14-4.

Bothe Sidney teams are back on the court this weekend as they host Western Conference foes Gering on Friday evening and Scottsbluff on Saturday afternoon at the Cabela’s Athletic Facility.
